Mother-Blessing Ceremony
An alternative to the well-known Baby Shower, this ceremony is a way to honour, support and empower the mother-to-be, whether she is expecting or about to adopt a child. It celebrates the transformation that the woman is about to experience and her transition to motherhood, within a circle of women chosen by her. Each Mother-Blessing ceremony is different and depends on the future mum's preferences and spirituality but can include:
- the reading of texts/poems
- sharing positive birth stories
- clay goddesses making
- the making of a birthing necklace (where every participant brings a bead, and after sharing what wish/intention it represents, they would add it to the beading thread. The mum can wear the necklace during labour as a way to keep connected to her circle of women)
- the red ribbon ritual (a piece of string/ribbon is passed to each participant who ties it around her wrist and says a few words, linking all women in the circle. Then the ribbon is cut, and everyone keeps the bracelet on until the baby is born.
- the making of a flower crown.
- belly painting
- gifting food to the mother-to-be that can be stored in the freezer, which she can eat during the post-partum period.

We will discuss your preferences and what activities you would like to have for your ceremony. I take care of sending out the invitations and making contact with the participants prior to the ceremony. On the day I will bring the necessary material and lead the ceremony, so that everyone can enjoy it and be in the moment.

Please note that this is also a stand alone service and I can organise this for you without being your doula.

£170 for the ceremony (usually 4 to 6 hours depending on the number of participants)
