Clémence Noelle

Mentored Doula

Hi, I'm Clem and I am a doula.

I moved from the south of France to the UK six years ago and settled near Crewe, Cheshire, where I am raising my little boy with my partner. I speak English fluently, but my mother tongue is French, so for any French nationals in my area, I can also support you in your mother tongue.

I believe that the journey through labour and childbirth is a beautiful and mysterious path, which can feel scary but doesn't have to be. What anyone going through labour and birth needs, is strong allies, and I can be one of them if you allow me.

My Philosophy

I want you to build up the confidence you need, and the trust that your body can achieve wonders. We will discuss together what your options for labour and birth are, so that you can come up with a birth plan that is right for you and your partner as individuals.

I will be there to hold the birth space for you. What this means is that eventually you will go into a bubble, a bit like a trance, and you will not have the same awareness of what is going on around you in the room. Your primal brain will take over, and indeed you should not have to worry about what's going on in the room. You just need to feel and know that you are safe, and that's what my role will be during your labour.

My role is not be to replace any medical staff present at your birth, but is complementary to theirs. They will likely focus on monitoring you and the baby in a medical capacity. I will focus on your and your partner's well-being, both emotional and physical. This can be through massage, acupressure, breathing with you, making sure you get the right nutrition, helping keep noise to a minimum, guiding your partner if needed. If agreed in advance, I can also ensure your birth preferences are respected as much as possible and advocate for you if you cannot.

I'm also very keen to help you prepare for the post-partum period. It's not uncommon to spend a lot of time preparing for labour itself, and the post-partum can be a bit of an afterthought. When expecting your first child, the After seems so full of unknowns, that you don't know how to even prepare for it. And then once you're in the middle of it, asking for help isn't always easy. With my support, you won't have to ask for help, you will get it regardless, because we will have prepared for things in advance.

Training

I completed my Doula training with the wonderful Kate Woods from Conscious Birthing

The TIDE (Trauma Informed Doula Education) Course that I completed means that my approach is inclusive of those who come from a disadvantaged background and/or have experienced trauma in their life (related to birth or not).
